My Wonderful Wine Bridal Shower

Good friends, like wine, get better with age...

My very best friend Shannon threw me the most beautiful, fun, elegant, and yummy wedding shower on June 14th! Although I was originally against the idea of having a shower (at 29, the thought of being wrapped in toilet paper and playing 'bride bingo' gave me the chills) but, I finally warmed to the idea when the ever brilliant Shannon suggested a Wine Tasting Shower! And oh am I glad I did. The theme was executed perfectly, the food made my mouth water as soon as I stepped onto the deck, and the games didn't include one piece of toilet paper, but instead were clever and hysterical. And the guests-well, the guests were fabulous. I am blessed to be surrounded by, supported by, and loved by a myriad of beautiful, strong, smart, funny, and generous women. And on that day, we laughed. We gossiped. We drank wine. We celebrated. And I felt loved. I am so thankful.

So fun. So many memories. So much love. So much wine. Love.

Things that go through my head…

I wonder why Microsoft spell check does not recognize the word “bachelorette”.

This annoys me for multiple reasons.

#1. I spend a significant amount of my time at work emailing my friends. My friends and I talk about very important happenings in the world, including our opinions on the men and the very well dressed woman on “The Bachelorette”. (I love everything that Jillian wears. Even the weird things that don’t really make sense. I have a serious crush on her wardrobe.) And I feel the need to talk about it via email with people daily. And then the guys…I mean SERIOUSLY! She kept the womanizing-ugly shirt wearing-accent having-musician until last week!! He got a free trip to Spain!! So, my point is, I would prefer not to get the spell check box for EVERY email that includes the title of my favorite show. Which is pretty much every single email.

#2. If Microsoft recognizes BACHELOR, it should, by virtue of being a genderly sensitive giant ‘o technology, should recognize the female equivalent?!?! I think so. HEAR THAT MR. GATES?!?

#3. Bachelorette is a fun word. It’s the beginning word to fun-all-female parties. It’s history is fascinating (technically, we should call unmarried women bacheloress’s). It’s way better than the word spinster.

So get with it Microsoft. Make me happy and add it to the dictionary.

J O y
today I spilled tomato soup into my keyboard. today the automatic paper towel dispenser refused to give me paper towels even though I was "waving hand underneath" as instructed. today I realized that I miss my Grammy so much and even though I will go see her this weekend, I still miss the her she used to be. today I noticed how badly I need a manicure.
But yet, beyond the paper towel mayhem and tomato soup debacle, I am so joyful. I love my life. I love every little silly thing about it. I love it all. I know I sound cheesy. And I love it.
